    On August 28-29 joint visit of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Foreign Trade Office took place. The main topic of the talks was the future business cooperation with State of Penang.

    Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kuala Lumpur Mr. Maciej Tumulec and the Head of the Polish Trade Office (PTO) in Kuala Lumpur Mr. Przemysław Zaręba participated in the PENANG 2030 debate presented by Chow Kon Yeow – the new governor of Penang.

    During a visit to the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), possibilities of mutual cooperation were presented as well as the business plans of the new  Foreign Trade Offices in Kuala Lumpur. The president of MICCI (Penang & The North), Priscilla Dawson, encouraged to cooperate with MICCI and with its commercial contacts. Members of MICCI also presented benefits of being a member of the Chamber to the entrepreneurs. On the same day, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and PTO visited the town of Butterworth where they met with entrepreneurs from the waste management industry and food industry who were interested in the development of commercial cooperation with Polish business entities.

     

    During the meeting with Dato 'Dr Ooi Kee Beng, the executive director of the Malaysian Research Center “Penang Institute”, the benefits of investment cooperation with Penang were discussed; also the exchange of opinions on the impact of the May General Election on the development of Malaysia took place.

    The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Georgtown, Mr. Dato Seri Suppiah Manikkam, attended the meetings.
